If we told you William Shakespear, George Orwell, or J.K. Rowling couldn’t read…

Would you believe us?

Maybe the most naive would,
But the vast majority would be instantly challenging that statement
As they should…
Because they etched themselves into history with their writing/ storytelling

One of the best guitarists of all time couldn’t read a single note of music…
His name is Phil Keaggy

And although Phil couldn’t read music he receives the highest regards among the greatest guitarists to ever play like
Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan

So, what makes a musician influential?
It can’t be the ability to play any piece of music that anyone slaps in front of you ,without messing up a note

And It can’t even be publishing the best guitar solo sheet music the world has ever seen…

Good music is about how the artist makes the world feel
So the artists who can truly FEEL a song they perform…
And have the people listening FEEL emotions as well…
Are the artists that reach the ranks of the guitarists mentioned above

The music on the paper is useless without that emotion and bringing people together to enjoy that emotion

The above video is an example of Phil’s great ability to put his soul into his work, we can feel it
