You heard it from Brandon first…

Flogstyle Media Brandon Bittner Korn Ferry Tour Champion 2020 Player Bio for Braden Thornberry

Braden Thornberry is destined to be near the top of the Money List in 2020
Co-Medalist of the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament
Earning him full-exempt status on the KFT

No pressure @tberrygolf

When a person owns the individuality of their golf swing like Thornberry has…watch out!

The dude is an athlete!

As a youngster he was a promising motocross rider

But after a gruesome fracture of his right leg
And a broken growth plate in his left forearm less than a year later
Momma Thornberry strongly encouraged young Braden
To hang up his motocross boots

He was also heavily involved with martial arts
And earned a second degree black belt
But as he picked up golf from his father Les who is a scratch player
He fell in love with it more and more

And the kid got good…quickly!

In a 2018 GolfChannel.com story
Les said that he was tired of losing to 12 year old Braden
So he had him move back to a longer tee box

Braden still beat his old man, and the rest (as they say) is history

As he continued to develop a consistent golf swing that many would call…unorthodox
He went on to win 4 AJGA Championships
And claim 5 course records as a junior golfer

Yet, with all his success
He was overlooked by a lot of the top college programs
Because of his unique golf swing

It’s a swing built on rhythm and consistent pace

“It’s not just straight back and straight through,” Thornberry told GolfWeek in 2018. “It’s about getting that rhythm down instead of a very stagnant up, stop, and then down.”

The visual of the swing means nothing to him

“The result is all that matters,” he said

Braden committed to Ole’ Miss and began his career in 2015
He went on to win 11 events during his college career

But that’s just tip of the iceberg when it comes to his accomplishments
He has quite the resumé

2016-2017
– Individual NCAA Champion
– Fred Haskins Award Winner (Most Outstanding College Golfer)
– Ping First Team All-American
– First Team All-SEC
– All-Nicklaus Team
Stroke Average – 69.57

In the summer of 2017
Braden made his PGA Tour Debut at the FedEx St. Jude Classic
Where he finished 4th…the highest amateur finish at the event since 1965

He also won the famous Sunnehanna Amateur that same summer
And was a member of the US Walker Cup Team

2017-2018
– No. 1 Ranked Amateur in the World
– McCormick Medal Recipient(Given by St. Andrews to the #1 Amateur in the world)
– Ping Second Team All-American
– First Team All-SEC
– Ben Hogan Award Finalist (Best Player voted by – Golf Coaches Association of America)

He also qualified for the 2018 US Open where he missed the cut by 1 stroke

There aren’t many 23 year olds with more potential

But with all of that potential, there’s a greater reason
Why Thornberry is a promising young player on the Korn Ferry Tour

He’s never stopped being himself or let other people influence him

In a time where most golfers are nitpicking
And working to find the prototypical golf swing
Braden Thornberry accepts and owns his unique golf swing

The ability to block out all the negative comments and suggestions
Has allowed Braden to focus on what’s important
Learning to control his ball flight
And improve his weaknesses as he deals with the pressures of tour golf
By being an athlete

In a 2019 article with ‘Lying Four’ Braden was asked about his deadly accuracy off the tee

He replied,

“Honestly, the thing I’ve improved on the most is my driving accuracy.
I was probably a 50-percent guy for a lot of college. That was kind of the weakness of my game. Lately I’ve been up around 70-75 percent, which is a huge improvement.”

“There’s not a whole lot of glaring weaknesses or holes right now. It’s just kind of dealing with that pressure,” he said

At FlogStyle Media our goal is to turn around your view on golf

That’s exactly what Braden Thornberry is doing
As he owns his unique swing…he is FlogStyle!
